We arrived in Blenheim yesterday at noon, and our first stop was for Andrew to pick up his registration at the Blenheim Conference Centre for the New Zealand Planning Institute Annual Conference. He’ll be attending four days, while I sit in our hotel room working on editing articles and overseeing the forums for International Man. I’ll also get some time to tour around the area, but since I’ve not done much on IM during the past week (while traveling), I’ll put in quite a few hours during the next few days.
Andrew’s first day (yesterday) at the NZPI Annual Conference was really great. He had thought before attending that he might take one page of notes, but he ended up with four pages. After the conference was the Welcome Reception, which is basically a fun time of meeting people and eating and drinking for free. He very much enjoyed this part of the Conference, as well. He caught up with a couple of old friends from Massey University and Bay of Plenty Regional Council (at Whakatane, where he worked prior to going oversees for three years), and he met a lot of new and interesting people.
Don’t think I have it so bad having to sit in this motel room at Lugano Lodge for all these days. Below are some photos of our “room,” probably more accurately called a “suite.” Both Andrew and I agree that this is the nicest room either of us has ever had. Life is good.
